Feeling blue isn’t normally considered a good thing, but in this case, it couldn’t be better!

Xolo Maridueña is slated to return as Blue Beetle in James Gunn‘s highly anticipated *Superman* sequel *Man of Tomorrow*, ** has learned.

This marks the 25-year-old actor’s second go-around in the role since 2023’s origin story *Blue Beetle*, in which Maridueña’s Jaime Reyes became the first Latino comic book character — who gains superpowers after encountering the Scarab, a piece of highly evolved alien tech — to lead their own live-action superhero movie.

*Man of Tomorrow* is currently in production with David Corenswet once again suiting up to play Superman/Clark Kent, along with Nicholas Hoult, who is reprising his role as Lex Luthor. This time around, the adversaries are forced into an uneasy alliance to take on a much larger threat, Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger (*All the Light We Cannot See*).

The sequel also stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Adria Arjona as Maxima.

As for Maridueña, he is no doubt excited to be back in blue once again.

“I want to do 12 more years of *Blue Beetle,” *the *Corbra Kai* star told EW just prior to *Blue Beetle*‘s release. “If we do 20 of these movies and 40 cameos or if it’s just this one, what’s most exciting to me is the opportunity for people to see it and have little kids everywhere saying, ‘Oh my gosh, this guy looks like me. I can be a hero, too.’”
