The U.S. military conducted a second wave of strikes against Iran on Wednesday, targeting Tehran’s ability to threaten ships attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz, as President Trump mulls attacks against the nation’s bridges.

The strikes, which began at 3 p.m. EDT, come hours after U.S. forces targeted coastal defense systems and cruise missile storage and launch sites on Greater Tunb Island, located near the waterway, according to the U.S. Central Command.

“The U.S. military is holding Iran accountable at the Commander in Chief’s direction,” Centcom said.

The latest wave of strikes ended at 9 p.m. EDT Wednesday with U.S. forces striking Iran’s command centers, air defense sites, missile and drone capabilities and coastal surveillance facilities using precision munitions in multiple locations, including Bandar Abbas, a port city on the Persian Gulf, Centcom said in an update Wednesday night.

When asked on Wednesday if he is giving Iran a deadline before bombing bridges, Trump told reporters: “I don’t like giving deadlines, but they pretty much know — they know the story. They better behave.”

Wednesday’s barrage of strikes marks the fifth consecutive day of kinetic action against Iran.

Iran retaliated on Tuesday, launching drones and missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain.

Kuwait’s military said on Wednesday its forces have intercepted four Iranian cruise missiles and 21 one-way attack drones.

Trump said during a Tuesday interview with Fox News that the strikes will remain until Iranian negotiators “get to the table and negotiate.”

On Tuesday, Trump reimposed the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. So far, U.S. forces have redirected two commercial vessels that have attempted to breach the Navy blockade, Centcom said on Wednesday.
