Melrose Place star Grant Show is opening up about a wild interaction with a fan and her boyfriend.

While recounting some of the most memorable fan exchanges he had during the height of the show’s fame, Show, who played bad boy Jake Hanson, recalled the crazy incident with the couple.

“I was at a nightclub,” Show said at a panel moderated by PEOPLE during 90s Con on Sunday. “It was a couple sitting behind me. She was a fan of the show and a fan of Jake’s and she kept paying a lot of attention to me.”

Show noticed that her boyfriend “was not very happy,” so he tried to be polite. Unfortunately, no good deed goes unpunished, as the man lashed out at him.

“I said, ‘My name is Grant. What’s your name?’ He took my hand, bit it,” Show revealed. “So I took my hand back.”

Indeed, Show stole hearts as Jake Hanson on Melrose Place, although he previously admitted that his character’s way with the ladies probably wouldn’t fly today. Although Jake was in his 20s, his character originated on the teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210. Reflecting on Jake’s romance with Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) in 2024, Show quipped that the relationship “would now be illegal and like, ‘Me Too.’”

“I think we only kissed, but still, you know, not good,” Show said on the Still the Place rewatch podcast in August 2024. “Not good.”

Luckily, their onscreen relationship didn’t last long, as he appeared in two episodes of 90210 while she was on three episodes of Melrose Place.

Meanwhile, Garth agreed that their romantic storyline aged poorly, saying on her 90210MG podcast at the time that it was “creepy now that we look back at it.”
