Megyn Kelly Eviscerates Melissa Gilbert’s Child Star PSA Amid Husband’s Charges

Megyn Kelly eviscerated Melissa Gilbert‘s call to action involving child stars amid the Little House on the Prairie star’s husband Timothy Busfield‘s charges.

Busfield, 69, who is best known for his roles on The West Wing and thirtysomething — is currently facing four counts of criminal sexual contact of a child in New Mexico. In January, a warrant was issued for his arrest after twin 11-year-old siblings alleged abuse on the set of The Cleaning Lady, directed by Busfield. He pleaded not guilty in February and was released from custody; the trial is scheduled to begin in May 2027.

In the wake of the allegations against her husband, Gilbert, 62, who played Laura Ingalls in LHOTP, has publicly spoken out in defense of Busfield. She also more recently posted an emotional PSA about protecting child actors following the death of Hayden Panettiere at 36. “Enough is enough,” she declared on Substack, pointing to the deaths of Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg, and Daveigh Chase as a sign that “something is very, very wrong.”

Kelly, 55, was not impressed. On The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News host claimed, “She’s gotta offer her 2 cents because it’s very important to Melissa Gilbert to be seen as a champion of women, even though she’s not.”

Additionally, Kelly shot down the idea that mobile phones are to blame for the deaths of former child actresses.

“It appears to be thanks to people like your husband, who you are defending,” Kelly said. “She’s standing by him even on the host of women who have come forward. She was asked by George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America whether she was aware of the litany of women who have come forward against him. OK, it’s not just one or two. By my count, it is…  at least seven who have come forward.”

Kelly continued, “This woman, the gull. Like, how ever do we get to this point where women are being seriously abused — why don’t you ask Timothy, Melissa? He could really help us out. Oh, wait. You don’t give a s***about anything involving him. It’s just something that you don’t have any connection to that you would like to condemn. That’s not how it works. You’re going to have to sit this one out, Mel.”

In a statement to TMZ in January, Busfield vowed, “I’m gonna confront these lies. They’re horrible. They’re all lies, and I did not do anything to those little boys, and I’m gonna fight it. I’m gonna fight it with a great team, and I’m gonna be exonerated. I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.”
