Matt Shively commented on Christy Carlson Romano’s recent revelations about fellow child stars from Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.

“No, no, don’t. Don’t explain. Just, just stop. Just stop right there,” the True Jackson, VP actor said in response to a Romano tease related to Hilary Duff.

Romano has been outspoken about issues relating to child performers.

Nickelodeon alum Matt Shively doesn’t want to hear it anymore.

On Wednesday, the former star of True Jackson, VP — he played True’s friend Ryan on the 2008-2011 series — posted a video of former Disney Channel actress Christy Carlson Romano appearing to tease a story from her days on the show Even Stevens and the TV movie Cadet Kelly. She told viewers that, “Hilary Duff may have accidentally given me a shopping addiction, and I can explain.”

Shively’s video cut to him looking at the camera.

“No, no, no, no,” he said. “No, no, don’t. Don’t explain. Just, just stop. Just stop right there.”

He captioned the clip, “it had to be done....”

Some of his followers seemed to agree with him.

They said “thank you for your service,” “for real,” and “omg this is the best thing ever.”

“Thank you for saying it,” one of them asked. “Any chance you will be name-dropped in one of these?”

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Romano for comment.

The actress, who went on to have success with voice roles, including that of the title character in Disney’s Kim Possible franchise, and to compete on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, dropped her memoir, Once Upon a Trainwreck: The Fall and Rise of a Child Star, on Oct. 6.

In it, she recounts, among other things, playing Ren Stevens on three seasons of Even Stevens, between 2000 and 2003, alongside costar Shia LaBeouf, who played her younger brother. And, yes, she costarred with Duff in the 2002 Disney Channel movie Cadet Kelly.

She also commented on the death of her fellow former child star Hayden Panettiere in August: “Early fame is like CTE,” she wrote in Elle. “Not as a diagnosis. As a way of thinking about repeated impact.”

She argued that there are now helmets and other safety protocols for youth sports.

“But we have almost no language,” Romano wrote, for what happens when stress, scrutiny, rejection, adult pressure, and the collapse of privacy become the architecture of a childhood.”

Shively, who was in his late teens when he was on the Nick show with Keke Palmer, has gone on to appear in shows such as The Real O’Neals, American Housewife, and Lopez vs. Lopez.
