- Matt Damon isn’t too bothered by his daughters entering the world of dating.
- But just in case, the actor is keeping a piece of advice he got from Sean Penn in his back pocket.
- Damon shares four daughters with wife Luciana: Alexia, 27, Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15.
Matt Damon‘s daughters are all-grown-up — which means the father of four has to get used to witnessing their dating lives.
Luckily, the 55-year-old actor has had it pretty easy so far. And should he ever run into trouble, he has the advice of Sean Penn to get him through it.
While walking the red carpet for* The Odyssey*‘s New York City premiere on Tuesday, Damon told E! News that he has yet to run into any issues when it comes to his daughter’s dating.
“I’m pretty kind,” Damon assured the outlet, adding, “They so far have very wonderful taste.”

That said, Damon shared that he’s always ready to take inspiration from Penn, who once made a veiled threat to daughter Dylan Penn’s date when she was a teenager.
“My favorite line that I’ve ever seen was Sean Penn’s,” Damon said with a laugh. “A guy came over for the first date, he’s about to take her out and apparently Sean said, ‘Whatever you do to her, I’m gonna do to you when you get home. Have a nice night.’”
The line prompted an immediate outburst of laughter from fellow *Odyssey* star Anne Hathaway, as Damon quipped, “That man doesn’t lie.”
Damon shares four daughters with his wife, Luciana Barroso: together, they’ve welcomed Isabella, 20, Gia, 17, and Stella, 15. Damon is also stepfather to Barroso’s 27-year-old daughter, Alexia, from a previous relationship.
Along with having good taste when it comes to dating, Damon recently shared that his kids have pretty solid taste in movies: namely, he was relieved to hear their rave reviews of *The Odyssey*.

Speaking to PEOPLE for a recent cover story, Damon shared that one of his daughters offered a piece of feedback that really moved him.
“She saw *The Odyssey,* and at the end of it, she actually turned to me, and she said, ‘Dad, I’m proud of you,’” Damon recalled. “She’s never said anything like that because we joke around a lot, and so at that point, I was like, ‘I’m good. It was all worth it.’”

Celebrating the film’s release has been an emotional journey for Damon, who stars in the Christopher Nolan-helmed film as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca. Earlier this month, the actor teared up while attending the film’s London premiere alongside his wife and all of his daughters.
“They’re all having fun while I’m working, but I’m so happy they’re here,” he said at the time. “Everybody’s so grown-up. Like, I got a real dad teary moment seeing them today.”
He added that seeing them all together and accepting how old they’ve gotten has been “wonderful” but also “a lot” to take in.
