Gabourey Sidibe's husband is sharing how they celebrated their twins' special day
On Friday, April 24, the Empire actress' husband Brandon Frankel posted several snaps on Instagram, showing how they celebrated their twins Cooper and Maya's second birthday.
In the adorable pictures, the couple can be seen with their little ones interacting with different animals at Love Always Sanctuary in California. The proud dad also included a few other photos from their big day in the post as he reflected on the "wild, beautiful, hilarious and exhausting ride" of fatherhood.
"For the twins’ 2nd birthday, we wanted to do something they’d absolutely love…and their love for animals is constantly coming up all day. So what better than a private hang at @lovealwayssanctuary where they could spend the day running around meeting all sorts of em!?" he began his caption. "It was amazing seeing them so excited to hang with chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, turtles, pigeons, a goose, a turkey, a mini pony, and more. They had such a good time they’re always asking when we’re going back to 'Oh MacDamo’s farm' 🤣🥹."Frankel continued, "Can’t believe we officially have two TWO YEAR OLDS! Such a wild, beautiful, hilarious, and exhausting ride. I wouldn’t change it for the world ❤️🥳."
Frankel and Sidibe welcomed their kids in April 2024. Since then, she's shared the precious and special moments with them throughout the years. Back in November, she shared a picture on Instagram with her twins, as they visited her on the set of a project she's directing. In the picture, she's holding both of her twins while standing next to her director's chair.
"The twins visited me on set the other day. They STILL [aren't] allowed to watch screens tho," she captioned her post.
In the comments, Sidibe's husband showed some love to his wife. "Getting to watch them visit you at work and you simultaneously be a boss lady and the best mom is such an honor ❤️🥹."

Frankel also shared pictures from their visit on set on his Instagram, expressing how proud he was of her.
"I’m really glad the twins and I were able to travel across the country so they could be reunited with mama @gabbysidibe while she directed a new movie," he captioned his post. "Seeing them light up when they got to see her after weeks of her being gone (minus FaceTimes and videos daily) was magical. 🥹❤️ WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!!"

In a previous interview with PEOPLE, the Empire actress opened up about how she's balancing her work life with motherhood. Her role in Lifetime's Give Me Back My Daughter marked Sidibe's return to acting after welcoming her twins with her husband. Sidibe said that while "motherhood is so consuming," this movie helped remind her of the importance of taking time for herself.
"I would say take the time to — it feels stupid to say — hold space for yourself," she told PEOPLE. "Take the time and enjoy this peace, where there's not a tiny human asking you for things at all times. But, [also] really remember who you are. Really take the time and take the space to do it and re-fall in love with yourself really. Because truly, motherhood is so consuming."
"All I needed to do every single day was just focus on my lines, focus on my work, hit my marks, and drink water and mind my business," she continued, adding that while it was hard at first, she found comfort in knowing her twins were safe. "That was really, really, really wonderful to have that space to do."
