Dick Van Dyke is proving that staying active has no age limit.

The 100-year-old actor and comedian shared an Instagram video on Aug. 28 showing himself exercising upside down on an inversion table. The device holds a person at an inverted angle, using gravity to create a traction-like stretch through the spine.

In the clip, Van Dyke appeared relaxed as he rotated backward on the equipment and briefly remained fully inverted.

“#DVD100 1/2 workout inversion table #keepmoving,” the Mary Poppins star captioned the post.

The impressive demonstration follows years of Van Dyke speaking openly about his commitment to exercise. During a January 2025 appearance on Ted Danson’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast, the television icon revealed that he still visited the gym three days a week.

“I’ve always exercised three days a week,” Van Dyke said, adding that he and his wife, Arlene Silver, continued going to the gym together. His routine also includes stretching, sit-ups and yoga.

Danson recalled seeing Van Dyke exercise at the same gym in Malibu, Calif., and being impressed by his energy. According to the Cheers actor, Van Dyke didn’t simply walk from one weight machine to the next and he danced.

“You literally danced to the next machine,” Danson told him.

Van Dyke acknowledged that maintaining his routine became harder as he grew older. Still, he remained committed to showing up consistently and doing what his body allowed.

The actor has long incorporated movement into his career. He became famous for combining physical comedy, dancing and carefully choreographed stunts in projects including The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Decades later, he continues demonstrating the playful energy that made him one of Hollywood’s most recognizable entertainers.

The inversion-table video quickly attracted supportive comments from followers impressed by Van Dyke’s strength and mobility at 100. Although his routine may look ambitious, its message remains accessible: Find a sustainable way to move and keep doing it.
