Better make space in your pantry, as Costco is set to open new stores nationwide — and your ZIP code might be on the list.
The wholesale juggernaut is opening six new Costco warehouses in the U.S. and one in Canada by spring, according to the company’s website. The slated openings are in accordance with Costco’s usual expansion strategy of opening 30 new stores every year — half of them in the U.S. and half internationally.
Costco opened five new stores in November across North America, including three in the United States and two in Canada. As of January 5, 2026, Costco has 639 locations across the country, with West Virginia, Wyoming, and Rhode Island among the states without a warehouse.
While no specific opening dates are listed on the “Coming Soon” page, the bulk retailer is slated to open one warehouse in January, three in March, and three in April, concentrated largely in Texas and Western states.

What Other Changes Are Coming to Costco?
Beyond opening new warehouses, Costco has a few other changes in the works for 2026. The company has started testing its first stand-alone gas station in California, as well as introducing membership-card scanners at food courts to keep the low-cost menu member-only.
