Christopher Knight is recalling his very brief romance with his "The Brady Bunch" costar Eve Plumb.
Knight, who played Peter Brady on the series from 1969 to 1974, reflected on the onscreen siblings' bond, telling People in an interview published Thursday, April 30, that the cast were "the only people in my world that I was close to."
But as the costars became teens, Knight and Plumb, who played fellow middle child Jan Brady, attempted to date.
"Eve was more mature than me very early [and] always had, from the earliest I can remember, her claim on me, but I wasn't there. I wasn't ready to be claimed," Knight, now 65, continued. "I wasn't even aware for part of that time that it just wasn't there."

When Knight was finally ready to return Plumb's interest, he realized it was too late.
"Right as, all of a sudden, I'm now ready perhaps to turn around and recognize this attention and maybe give some of my own, we're off the air," he added.

The comments come weeks after Plumb, 68, told Page Six that the onscreen siblings went on a date that solidified their status as friends. "It was sweet," she told the tabloid. "It was fun, but we were really already by that time just too good of friends to make that transition into being romantic partners."

She added that "we've stayed friends to this day," so much so that the pair, and their spouses, have a monthly Zoom call that started during the pandemic. Plumb has been married to her second husband, business consultant Ken Pace, since 1995. Knight has been married to fitness model and entrepreneur Cara Kokenes, his fourth wife, since 2016.
Given their bond today, Knight says it's probably better that nothing more came of the romance.
"It was sweet, but it was [not] destined, and I'm glad. Because surely, you know, exes aren't somebody you normally stay very close to," he told People.
Knight and Plumb weren't the only cast members to date. Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady, told Us Weekly in 2024 that "we all hooked up with each other at some point."
"I dated Maureen [McCormick], and Chris dated Eve, and Michael [Lookinland] and Susan [Olsen] had a little mock wedding at one point," he said at the time. "So, yes, we all hooked up."
