“I'm probably, like, the youngest person in the trailer park by like 30 or 40 years,” he says during an April 28 interview with Jimmy Fallon
Chet Hanks is embracing an RV lifestyle in Nashville.
On Tuesday, April 28, the Running Point star stopped by the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote a new season of the Netflix comedy. But during the conversation, the 35-year-old son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson also confirmed he recently moved to a "trailer park" in Nashville to pursue a career in country music.
“I didn't want to get an apartment because I literally just got a condo in L.A. and I furnished it,” the Something Out West band member explains. “I didn't want to do that again and I didn't want to furnish it. So I was, like, staying in Airbnbs and hotels and that gets really old because I just like having my own space.”
Instead, Chet says he was inspired by a recent trip to Carmel-by-the-Sea in California to enjoy a more minimalist lifestyle.
“I stayed in an Airstream trailer and I really loved it,” he says. “I was like, ‘Man, I want one of these…' So I did. I got a trailer.”

Although it isn't an Airstream, as Chet is “not there yet,” he's “really happy” with his Jayco Eagle.
The actor says his home on wheels has "everything I need. I got my kitchen. I got, you know, a walk-in shower. That's a big deal with trailers, if it's a walk-in shower, because sometimes they combine the toilet and shower. It's called a wet bath.”
Although he is fully embracing life in the “trailer park,” there's a stark contrast between him and his neighbors.

He adds: “It's not what you think, you know? You think, oh, you're gonna live in a trailer park. It might be a little sketchy. It might be a little dangerous. It's all just, like retirees, you know? Great people.”
Fallon then jumped in to ask if Chet is taking full advantage of the park's amenities.
“I do have a campfire outside of it. I have a fire pit and I have used it,” he explains. “But most of the time, I just do exactly what I do at home, which is just stay inside and lay in bed and watch Netflix and things like that.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Chet spoke about playing on one of country music's most notable stages last weekend.
“It was a big deal. It was only our second performance ever,” Chet says of his Stagecoach music festival debut on April 25. In attendance was his Oscar-winning dad.
