Celine Dion appeared emotional as she was seen for the first time in two years ahead of her upcoming comeback concerts.
The Canadian singer, 58, smiled and waved as she greeted fans outside the Hotel Le Royal Monceau in Paris on August 28, at the head of her series of live shows in the French capital. Dressed in a beige trench coat layered over black leggings and a black top, Celine complemented her look with black stiletto heels and large dark sunglasses.
She wore her hair in a slicked-back bun and looked visibly thrilled and overwhelmed by the waiting crowd as she took multiple pictures before heading into the luxury residence. In December 2022, Celine shared her devastating diagnosis as she told her fans she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome (SPS), and may never be able to perform again.

She is now just days away from embarking on what many considered an "impossible" comeback, supported by one of the most comprehensive medical teams ever deployed for live concert performances. The My Heart Will Go On vocalist will have up to a dozen specialized nurses and paramedics accompanying her throughout her upcoming 26-show residency in France, with one of the world's foremost neurologists available around the clock.
At least two local doctors will also attend every performance as Celine makes her stage return following her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis more than three years ago — a rare, incurable neurological disorder. The singer recently shared an update on her health with fans.

Celine greeted fans in emotional scenes
Global television viewers were moved to tears witnessing her painful struggles with the condition in the 2024 Netflix documentary I Am: Celine Dion. Multiple medical experts had previously stated it would be "impossible" for her to perform live again.
However, the Canadian icon is set to relaunch her career on September 12 at La Défense Arena in Paris, bolstered by a comprehensive American medical contingent from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

These experts are assisting her in managing the disorder that causes excruciating muscle rigidity, limited mobility, and seizures.
The operation will be directed by her neurologist Dr Amanda Piquet, who has verified that her medical team will collaborate with local healthcare providers during the concert series, scheduled to run through May of next year. More than nine million French supporters took part in a lottery system for priority ticket access, with all 26 shows selling out in a matter of hours.

Celine remarked, "I'm feeling good. I'm feeling strong," though she acknowledged, "I'm obviously a little nervous."
Prior to her comeback next month, her sole public appearance following her diagnosis was a brief moment at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics. During a break from rehearsals last week, she noted, "I'm aware that some people are saying that I'm trying to do too much too soon, but I'm ready and nothing has been left to chance."
