Amy Poehler has taken home the inaugural Golden Globe award for Best Podcast!

On Sunday, Jan. 11, during the 83rd annual Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif, the comedian, 54, accepted the trophy for Best Podcast — which marked the first time the award has ever been handed out.

With her win, Poehler's Good Hang with Amy Poehler beat out Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, The Mel Robbins Podcast, Up First and SmartLess, the last of which is co-hosted by her ex and fellow comedian Will Arnett.

Host Nikki Glaser introduced the award with a spoof of Nicole Kidman's AMC ad, before Snoop Dogg presented. As she collected her trophy, the Saturday Night Live alum joked "this is exactly how I pictured it: Snoop giving me the award."

"I don’t know about award shows, but when they get it right, it makes sense," Poehler joked before thanking her podcast team and giving a shoutout to boyfriend Joel Lovell: "I love you. Thank you for everything."

She later added, "I just want to say that I know I am new to this game. I have great respect for this form. I have great respect for all the people that I am nominated with. I’m big fans of all of you, except for NPR, just a bunch of celebs phoning it in. So try harder."

After the playful NPR job, Poehler said her show was "an attempt to try to make a very rough and unkind world filled with a little bit more love and laughter and laughing with people not at them."

"And we just have such a good time making it. And thank you so much for letting us make more," she concluded, before telling her parents "you can watch the Patriots now."

Back in October, the Golden Globes announced a longer list of 25 shows eligible for these first-ever podcast nominations, determined by the Globes' data partner, Luminate. “This year’s inaugural list of eligible programs for the new Best Podcast eligibility list reflects the incredible depth, diversity and creativity thriving in the podcasting world today,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, said in a statement at the time.

She added, “From groundbreaking investigative series to deeply personal storytelling and innovative audio formats, this list showcases the power of podcasting to inform, entertain, and inspire audiences around the globe. The Golden Globes is proud to be the first major entertainment award to recognize this medium.”

Poehler's show features the Parks and Recreation alum as she welcomes "celebrities and fun people to her studio" and discusses "stories about their careers, mutual friends, shared enthusiasms, and most importantly, what's been making them laugh," per a description.

Poehler previously scored a win in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Musical or Comedy at the Globes in 2014 for Parks and Rec.

Of the other nominees, NPR's Up First is the oldest, launching in April 2017. Per a synopsis, the show gives listeners the "three biggest stories of the day, with reporting and analysis from NPR News — in 10 minutes." It is hosted by Leila Fadel, Steve Inskeep, Michel Martin, A Martinez, Ayesha Rascoe and Scott Simon.

SmartLess — hosted by Jason Bateman, Arnett and Sean Hayes — premiered in 2020 and, per a description, features the three men as "one of the hosts reveals his mystery guest to the other two."

"What ensues is a genuinely improvised and authentic conversation filled with laughter and newfound knowledge to feed the SmartLess."

Earlier this week, Arnett appeared on PEOPLE 10 alongside his Is This Thing On costar Laura Dern, when he implied that Poehler might be the one to go home victorious in their Golden Globes category. He joked that he would "leave the speech writing" to his co-host Hayes, who he said has written "Amy’s acceptance speech already."

First released in 2018, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard — hosted by the Parenthood alum and co-creator/co-host Monica Padman — follows the actor as he interviews stars and discovers "human 'truths' without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection," per a synopsis on his website.

"We got this for two reasons," Shepard said of the nod during their Dec. 15 episode. "The insane vulnerability of our guests, like that's the gift . . . And then equal to that is how many people listen and share and love and talk about [it].You guys gave me my first nomination."

Call Her Daddy premiered in 2018. Hosted by Alex Cooper, the series finds her having honest conversations and cutting "through the BS with exciting guests and bold topics," per a description. Three years after launching, Cooper signed a deal with Spotify worth $60 million. In 2024, she then signed with SiriusXM. Cooper has interviewed guests from Miley Cyrus and Chelsea Handler to John Mayer, Kelsea Ballerini and Kim Kardashian.

The Mel Robbins Podcast, a self-help show, features its host's "hard-fought secrets, science-backed tools, and deeply personal stories" to assist with changing listeners' lives. Reacting to her nod, Robbins said the show has come "a long way" since its inception in 2022.
